Another Climate Carnival in the Books

Updated: Nov 4

By Katy Flammia

The Columbia County Climate Carnival took place on September 14th at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in Chatham. There were many green vendors from tree services to HVAC contractors and nurseries.  Lots of local Climate Smart Communities were represented, such as Canaan, Kinderhook,  Tagkanic and Ancram. There was a lot of activity at the repair cafe.  A really great presentation on historic climate change featured easy to read graphic maps. My favorite and perhaps many folks' most memorable exhibit were the live birds of prey brought by the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York.  They had falcons and owls that were just amazingly impressive and beautiful! Can’t wait for Climate Carnival 2025!

Climate Carnival is amazing for teaching everyone the different ways one can help to soothe the impact on Mother Earth. I’m so thank full for the people that put this event together, great job. I wish there were more Climate Carnivals.
